I think that plus size women have different kinds to work in this area … just wondering if others have wondered the same thing.

I would suggest to forget the pads and go with a menstrual cup. Menstrual cups fit inside the vagina and collects the blood before it exits the body. There are disposable ones of a brand called SITE, available at local grocery stores, or you can buy a reusable one (either the Diva Cup or the user) in many health food stores. Not only is it good for heavy bleeder but also environmentally friendly and will save you oodles money for years. Another plus is that it is so comfortable you will forget that you are on your period.
